I can’t believe the opening of my show is just around the corner. GoggleWorks Center for the Arts is an old goggle factory, it has nothing to do with the search engine, by the way. Their mission statement is to nurture the arts, foster creativity, promote education and enrich the community. I’m so grateful to have their amazing space to hang my work in. I’m still working on new pieces and tying up a million loose ends. So much to do so little time. Here’s the details:
Oceans, Isles and Shoals: Linda Celestian
March 9- April 14, 2013
Opening Reception, First Friday, March 8, 2013 from 5:30-7:30PM
Linda is the winner of GoggleWorks 2012 Juried Vanity Fare. Working with paint in its fluid form and natural dying techniques, her work emulates the qualities of water. Natural occurring patterns also reference the body, illustrating the connection between the human circulatory system and the earth´s surface. Inspired by aerial photography and observations of local waterways, Celestian´s imagery portrays earth´s yin and yang qualities. “I´m interested in depicting nature´s energy as a metaphor for human states of being,” she shares.
